Winter barefoot boots and thick socks: checking the fit

Thicker socks take up some room in winter boots, especially over the toes and instep. They do not automatically mean you need a size up: the boot, its lining and your foot shape all matter.
Measure and try with your socks
Measure both feet while standing according to the manufacturer’s instructions and compare them with the chart for that model. Try the boots with the socks you actually plan to wear in winter. Do not make room by curling your toes or leaving the fastening excessively loose.
A short indoor fit check
Stand and take several steps: your toes should move freely, the width and instep should not press, and your heel should not slip excessively. Try rising onto your toes too. If thick socks feel tight, compare a thinner pair or a different shape; extra length alone cannot solve every width issue. Follow the seller’s try-on and return conditions.
