Socks slipping down in shoes? What to check

A sock bunching under your heel can spoil even a short walk. The cause may be its size, a stretched cuff or heel movement inside the shoe. First see whether it happens with the same sock or the same shoe.
Try a different sock
Compare two pairs in the same shoes. The heel pocket should sit on your heel without folds under the foot or tight fabric over the toes. A very low cuff can slip beneath a trainer’s collar; try a slightly higher cut with a comfortable, resilient cuff.
Check the shoe next
Walk indoors in both shoes: your heel should not lift markedly and your toes need room. Smooth the sock and adjust the fastening without overtightening. If only one foot is affected, compare the fit on both sides. If a shoe presses or slips off, try another shape or size.
