How to store leather shoes between seasons

Before putting leather trainers away for a season, clean and dry them completely. Check the care instructions for your particular leather finish; suede and smooth leather need different products.
Clean and protect the shape
Brush off loose dirt gently. Remove removable insoles and let them dry separately. Leave damp shoes at room temperature, away from heaters and direct sun. Once dry, insert unprinted paper loosely or use a shoe tree that does not stretch the shoe.
Choose a dry, airy place
Use a shoe box or breathable bag in a dry, ventilated place away from sunlight. Do not seal damp shoes in plastic or place heavy objects on them. Check stored shoes periodically; if you notice mustiness or staining, ask a leather-care specialist for advice.
