Children’s slippers slipping on floors: what to check on the sole

Checking the sole of a child’s slipper

If children’s slippers slip, first note which surface causes it. A sole can behave differently on dry timber and wet tiles. No shoe guarantees grip in every condition.

Four things to inspect

  • Is the tread worn smooth, hard or peeling?
  • Is dust, wax or grease stuck to the sole?
  • Does the slipper fit the foot, or is the foot sliding inside it?
  • Is the floor clean and dry?

Clean the sole according to its material and let it dry. Then test ordinary walking on a safe, dry floor. Running on wet tiles is not a useful fit test. A heavily worn sole or recurring slipping may mean it is time to replace the pair.

Look at sole photos and material details among our children’s slippers and check length against the size table. If the child repeatedly falls even in well-fitting footwear, speak with a healthcare professional.
